Atmospheric turbulence

Atmospheric turbulence

An image of a remote scene may look hazy due to atmospheric turbulence, which can be modeled by an impulse response function:

\begin{displaymath}h(x,y)=e^{-\pi a^2(x^2+y^2)} \end{displaymath}

or its Fourier spectrum:

\begin{displaymath}H(f_x,f_y)=\frac{1}{a^2} e^{-\pi(f_x^2+f_y^2)/a^2} \end{displaymath}
